Day 1

Think I actually got some sleep last night.  The apartment was oddly quiet and lonely with Lupe, but I made it through and so did she!

Dr. Z just called and she sounds so upbeat.  Lupe is up, walking around, alert and doing great.  She still doesn’t have an appetite but she’s been on fluids and glucose so Dr. Z doesn’t expect her to have one.  I’m going over around 3 to see her and we will decide if I’m ready and she’s ready to come home.  Dr. Z has seen this type of quick turnaround once before and that was with her dog.  She thinks that the tumor/leg was so painful and no that its gone she’s a new dog!

I have to leave work a little early because I haven’t prepared for her to come home today!  Need to pick up mats/carpets to cover the floors and get some t-shirts to cover the incision…and then be ready to see her at 3.

There have been so many people pulling for Lupe, sending prayers and good vibes her way, so thank you all as they have worked!  I know we have a long road ahead of us and may have some bumps in that road but after the last few weeks, I truly think we can handle just about anything…just me and my tripawd 🙂

  1. Lupe!!! That sleepy picture is so cute. Sounds like the surgery went good. We are keeping our fingers and paws crossed for a speedy and smooth recovery. I know you want her to come home right away but listen to the vet and if they want to keep her, let them keep her another day. I was so anxious to get my puppy home but those first few days those vet techs taking care of your dog know exactly how and what to do for your dog without the emotional hang-ups we pawrents usually have.

I hear some great optimism in your writing and you need to convey that to Lupe when you bring her home. She will be sore from the surgery but that is going to get better! Yeah for Lupe!!!

  2. Suzie and Rizzo,

Thank you so much for your kind words! Its the vet who said she thinks that Lupe can come home today which is a day early than originally planned. I had to leave work early to go get her a new bed, t-shirts and stuff to throw on the floor for traction.

Craziness…this dog never ceases to amaze me.

    Will keep things updated!

  3. Wow – such a great update from the vet! Hope you get to bring her home. Glad you got some sleep last night. It’s good to be rested up before they come home!

    Video chat! So cute!
Looking forward to the next good update,

  5. How is your baby doing? The first few days seem to be a tiring and trying time for all. It has been 2 weeks since my Bubba had a front leg amp and we’re just now seeing him get back to himself. Stay positive and treasure each day!

  6. What did you decide to do about bringing Lupe home? Since she can do video chat, she can start writing her own blog. My vet was surprised that Dakota can write a blog while missing a front leg, but that’s because he doesn’t know the determination of a tripawd. 🙂

I hope Lupe continues to do well. Remember there will bumps and most are no big deal in the long run. If she does something to concern you, ask about it here. The community is big enough to have seen it all.

Give Lupe a snuggle from all of us.

    Shari
